In spring of 1989 Bill Carroll and I went to Chengdu, Sichuan, China. I was to teach some workshops in video production at at university, and Bill was my teaching assistant. Much to our surprise, a pro-democracy movement swept across China, culminating in what became known as "Tiananmen Square." Some parts of our return trip were nightmarish. We were quickly ushered out of Chengdu as things got tense. This song documents our train trip from Chengdu to Shanghai.
